KlangArt
Congress
New Music Technology
1997 (June 4th - 7th) |
|
The fourth KlangArt will take place in Osnabrueck, Germany on
June 4-7, 1997. As always, the program will feature a
distinguished selection of artists and scientists. Its theme will
be Music in Virtual Spaces (Musik im virtuellen
Raum), and 40 highly regarded speakers from both Germany and
abroad have been invited to present their research.
Here you will find the Conference
Guide
1997 !! (Time Table), and the abstracts
and
c.v. (via text retrieval system).
The Congress on New Music Technologies will be coordinated by
Professor Dr. Bernd Enders
and Dr. Joachim Stange-Elbe of the University of Osnabrueck.
The relationship between music and technology is becoming
increasingly strong due to the growing importance of digital
technology in nearly all aspects of contemporary musical culture.
This exciting -- but not always easy! -- interaction will be
extensively discussed from a wide range of viewpoints: artistic,
musicological, and music educational.
Highlights of the congress include lectures that address the
consequences of the digitalisation and globalisation of music in the
electronic media; scientific publishing on the Internet; promising
new approaches to computer-based composition; and new approaches to
musicology and music education.
The new research projects to be presented at the conference will
include a project on the analysis of SF film soundtracks that will
be of special interest to Star Trek fans.
A round table with specialists will discuss the main theme of the
KlangArt-Congress - live and online via internet.
